At the Active Care Spine Center we emphasize self-empowerment, independence, and education. We provide our patients with the knowledge and tools they need so that they may be pain free and healthy. This is accomplished by educating each patient on the nature of pain and then developing a unique treatment program designed especially for them. The expressed goal of this program is to relieve current pain, modify activities of daily living, and stabilize core muscles to prevent future injuries. Our goal is to positively affect our patients’ health long after their treatments have ended.

Back pain is an epidemic of significant proportions. According to the American Chronic Pain Society, 31 million adults are suffering from back pain at any given time, making it one of the most common reasons for missed days of work and doctor visits.

Not only is back pain a pervasive disorder, it has proven quite difficult to manage. There are many misconceptions and ineffectual treatments used in the management of spinal pain. Though most spinal pain is self limiting, usually getting better in less than two weeks, there is a high probability for reoccurrence, meaning it can and will come back.

What patients need is an active approach to managing their pain. Patients must learn to spare sensitive tissues through ergonomic advice and learn to stabilize weak tissues through a low spinal load core stabilization exercise routine.

Not all health care providers address spinal pain in the same way. At the Active Care Spine Center we have a very strong background in active rehabilitation. At our centers we emphasize functional restoration, core stabilization, gentle exercise, and activity modification. We not only effectively relieve current complaints of pain but also work to prevent future exacerbation and disability. This is achieved by treating the cause of the pain, not just the symptoms.

Throughout your treatment, we reinforce self-sufficiency and teach coping strategies necessary for managing pain on a daily basis. At the Active Care Spine Center, we focus on educating our patients on the nature of pain; changing their attitude toward their situation and reducing fear avoidance behaviors. We teach skills that can be easily learned and applied outside of the clinical setting.

Here at the Active Care Spine Center, we continue to stay current with the literature regarding the management of pain. We incorporate evidence from a variety of disciplines including chiropractic, neurology, sports medicine, orthopedics, psychology, physical medicine, and physical therapy.

We use evidence based outcome measures that have been shown to be valid and reliable in tracking patient progress. We communicate regularly with our patient’s medical doctors and provide regular outcome reports that demonstrate efficacy of care. These tools provide an excellent measure through which success of treatment can be established, holding our care accountable to you the patient.

The complete care package you receive at ACSC: chiropractic, physical therapy, sports rehabilitation, core strengthening, massage, and ergonomic consultation is unlike any other program you will experience. Come see for yourself how the Active Care Spine Center can help you!
